In this presentation by the Idaho Human Rights Commission’s Director, HRNNI members will hear updates regarding discrimination complaints in Idaho during the last year as compared with previous years. Specific bases and issues of discrimination will be discussed, as well as trends in particular areas covered by state and federal anti-discrimination laws. Ben will focus specifically on how to avoid receiving a charge of discrimination or retaliation under the Idaho Human Rights Act and corresponding federal laws.

BIO

Dr. Ben Earwicker served as a faculty member and administrator at universities in the U.S. and New Zealand for 13 years and continues to manage dual-enrollment modern language courses throughout Washington, Oregon, and Idaho.  In 2017, he became Director of the Idaho Human Rights Commission, the state agency that enforces anti-discrimination law in Idaho.  Ben spends his free time traveling with his wife of 20 years and their two daughters.  He enjoys backpacking and running, and his two energetic dogs, Pancho Villa and Jet, keep him busy walking trails along the Boise River.
